Native speaker versions assume you know every word in the dictionary. This one does not. Beginners play with everyday words like Apfel, Katze and Sonne. Advanced learners face words like Anmut or Zwist with no hints and a hard mode that forces you to use every clue.
How to play German Wordle
- Pick your level. Level 1 is A1, Level 5 is C1.
- Type any five letter German word and press Enter. Umlauts (Ä, Ö, Ü) and ß count as one letter and are on the keyboard.
- Green means the letter is in the right spot. Yellow means it is in the word but somewhere else. Grey means it is not in the word.
- Use the English hint when it unlocks. On Level 1 you see it from the start.
- Solve it, share your coloured grid and come back tomorrow to keep your streak alive.

Every level follows the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). Each has one daily challenge shared by every player plus unlimited practice puzzles, well over 100 fresh variations per level every day.

Typing German words letter by letter trains spelling and umlaut placement far better than reading them.
Pattern sense
You start to feel which letter combinations are German: SCH, EI, IE, CK, ST at the start. That instinct helps with reading and listening.

Tips to win at German Wordle
- Start with a word full of common letters, like REISE, TASTE or LEISE.
- German words often end in E, N, R or T. Test those positions early.
- Remember that EI and IE are different. Try both if you have E and I in yellow.
- Umlauts are separate letters here. A green A does not mean Ä.
