Why German crossword helps you learn German faster
Active recall
Seeing an English clue and producing the German word is harder than multiple choice, and that effort is what makes words stick.
Spelling practice
Crossing letters force exact spelling, including umlauts and double consonants.
Theme based
Words from one topic connect in memory, which makes them easier to use in real conversations.
Tips to win at German Crossword
- Start with the short words. They give you letters for the long ones.
- German nouns are written with a capital letter, but in the grid every letter is a capital, so do not worry about case.
- If a word will not fit, check for an umlaut. Küche has five cells, not six.
- Say each finished word out loud with its article. It doubles the learning.
